Assignments and information about classes for the week of November 30th

December 8th: Final portfolio reviews and class: interior drawing.

December 10th: Final portfolio reviews

 There will be no assignment this week and next so you can complete any assignments and sketchbook work in preparation for finals on December 8th or 10th. All of your assignments and class activities for the entire semester are available in the weekly blogs.

Requirements: (From your syllabus)
Students are expected to also complete a series of drawing exercises outside of class which will include keeping a sketchbook and completing assignments started in class. The final grade will be based on class attendance and participation (40%), skill development (30%) and a portfolio of class work and the sketchbook and copies executed during the semester (30%). Your work will be reviewed at midterm and a final review at the end of the semester.

Online posts are added at the beginning of each week, most recent first. You will find your assignments and a brief explanation of activities for each class during that week. Some assignments will require that you respond in a written post. It is your responsibility to check your student website and keep up with class assignments and posts. December 1st: Anatomy studies: We will study the form of the head and learn to place the features.

December 3rd: We are going to work from the live model today. We will do some quick full figure studies and a one and a half hour portrait drawing.Bring charcoal, pencils erasers and sketching paper.

November 17th: We are going to work from the live model today. Bring charcoal, pencils erasers and sketching paper.

November 19th: Today is the bus trip to Yale, your assignment is to make a drawing from a painting or sculpture in the museum. If you are not going to the museum draw either the Vesalius or the Michelangelo handed out on Tuesday.

November 10th: We are going to work from the live model today. Bring charcoal, pencils erasers and sketching paper.

November 12th: We will be working on anatomy again today. You will need good quality drawing paper and pencils and erasers. Our next model will be next Tuesday November 17th.

 Assignment: From your book “Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist” draw the muscles leg. (pages: 132, 133)

November 3rd: We are going to work on your three views of the skeleton from Albinus. You will need to complete these today so have at least two of the views completed before class.

Assignment: From your book “Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist” draw the muscles of the torso. (pages: 104,105,106)

November 5th: We will be working on anatomy again today. You will need good quality drawing paper and pencils and erasers. Our first model will be next Tuesday November 10th.

Assignment: From your book “Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist” draw the muscles of the arm. (pages: 114,115,116,117)

Assignments and information about classes for the week of October 26th.

October 27th: Today will be the last day to work on your two session drawing. You will need your Anatomy book next week for sketchbook assignments.

October 29th: We will start working on anatomy today. You will need good quality drawing paper and pencils and erasers. We are going to do three views of the skeleton from Albinus, we will also work on it next Tuesday. You will need to bring a ruler as well.

Drawing 1/October 20th and 22nd

Assignments and information about classes for the week of October 19th.

October 20th: Today will be the last day to work on your long term drawing. You will need your Anatomy book in a couple of weeks for sketchbook assignments.
“Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist”, Stephen Rogers Peck, Oxford University Press.

Assignment: Do two copies in your sketchbook this week, the library has some new images. Do at least one figure or anatomical figure.

October 22nd: We will start one more two session still life drawing today and work on it next Tuesday as well. Bring whatever drawing materials you would like to work with.

Drawing 1/October 13th and 15th

Assignments and information about classes for the week of October 12th.

October 13th: We will continue with our long term drawings on Tuesday and Thursday this week. If you haven’t seen the Piranesi video watch it, it was made with Cinema 4D. The drawings were projected on 3D forms and worked in photoshop. You might want to look at more of Piranesi’s work. I will put a few in the library.

October 15th: Mid term review, bring in all of your classwork, assignments and sketchbook for your review. Class as usual.
