November 1st: Ecorche today, make sure you bring your completed skeleton drawings (front side and back views) to class. (see assignment from last week)
Assignments and information about classes for the week of October 24th.
October 25th: Model today, quick sketches and medium term poses (20-40 minutes).
Assignment:Please read Chapter 5 from your text for class, due November 1st. On November 1st we will do a quick ecorche of the muscles of the trunk and upper leg. You will need to complete and bring to class a pencil drawing of the skeleton from front, back, and side views. The skeletons should be about 15″ or taller. You do not need the lower arm or hand. The three views of the skeleton are essential for class, no exceptions. The drawing library tab has the three skeleton views on a grid for reference. (see side view above)
Assignments and information about classes for the week of October 3rd.
October 4th: Today we will work on hands and revisit the skull adding the facial muscles. For class today please bring your textbook and drawing materials.
Assignment: Read Chapter 4 (pages 83-107) Draw muscles of the head and neck on pages 82, 84 and 85. Due October 11th.
October 6th: Model today we will work on the head neck and shoulders. You will need materials to work on a 2 hour portrait drawing. Bring Gray-toned paper white and black charcoal (or Conte crayon) the goal is to begin using and understanding tone to create the three dimensional form of the head.

September 27th: Male model today and Thursday. We will begin discussing and learning about the musculature system.

Assignment: Read Chapter three in your textbook, (pages 68-81) copy drawings on page 67 in preparation for class. Due September 29th.
September 29th: Model today, focus on the muscles of the upper leg: Adductors
Flexors (Hamstrings)
Extensors (Quadriceps)
Hip Muscles (Abductors)
Assignments and information about classes for the week of September 19th.
September 20th: Model today for warm up quick poses we will focus on the hip joint and leg rotations. Plan on one long pose for the second half of class.
Assignment: please copy drawings on page 54 (bottom only), 55 (top only) and page 62. Due the 22nd.
September 22nd: Model today, we will concentrate on the joints of the foot and hand. In preparation for class today please copy drawings on page 54 (bottom only), 55 (top only) and page 62 (see assignment above). Read Chapter three in your textbook, copy drawings on page 67 in preparation for next weeks classes.
Assignments and information about classes for the week of September 11th.
September 13th: Read Chapter 2 pages 32-56, We will be discussing joints and drawing from your textbook and other materials, bring pencils, paper and of course your text.
Assignment: Read the remainder of Chapter 2 pages 57-65, copy four hip rotation drawings on page 59. Due September 15.
September 15th: Model today – please bring drawing materials. We will start with warm up short poses followed with one long pose. Bring appropriate drawing materials. Practice: Make sure you draw the hip rotations, you may also wish to do the arm rotation drawings on page 51. We will be concentrating on joints of the hip and arm.
Assignments and information about classes for the week of September 5th.
September 6th: Live model today, you will need drawing paper vine or willow charcoal eraser. We will concentrate on visualizing the skeleton with quick action poses. Also please bring a 12″ ruler. Practice: Develop a simple shorthand representation of the skeleton to help you quickly draw the angles and foreshortening of the bones.
September 8th: Live model today, you will need drawing paper, willow charcoal or compressed charcoal (black and white) and eraser. You may use toned or un-toned paper. Longer poses today. Practice: make some grey scale drawings on your toned paper to get familiarize yourself and develop sensitivity to the value scale.
Assignments and information about classes for the week of August 29th.
August 30th: We will meet briefly to discuss your first assignment, the class syllabus and answer any questions you have about materials and supplies.
Assignment: Read Chapter 1 in Classic Human Anatomy in Motion (pages 1-31) Copy the drawings on page 4. Due September 1st.
September 1st: We will be reviewing Chapter 1: discussing your drawing assignment and drawing the bones in various positions. Bring your textbook to class.
